The Legacy

The title of the EUNTES DOCETE Legacy Society at Villa Victoria Academy is inspired by the simple mission of St. Lucy Filippini who, with her order of Religious Teachers, was entrusted to lead the formation of schools for women in 17th century Italy by her mentor and greatest supporter, Cardinal Mark Anthony Barbarigo: “Euntes Docete”  (Ay-YUN-tase Doe-CHET-tay) which is Latin for “Go and Teach.”

Driven by this mission, the Religious Teachers Filippini continue the work of St. Lucy through the education of young women at Villa Victoria Academy.  Our beloved Villa, founded in 1933, has influenced the lives of close to 1,600 women over more than 75 years. 

This EUNTES DOCETE motto is visible on the seal of the Religious Teachers Filippini Order as well as on the Villa Victoria Academy crest, so that all may know our mission.
