The Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
CONGRATULATIONS, CLASS OF 2008! We congratulate the Class of 2008, who will attend the following colleges/universities this fall: UPPER SCHOOL EXAMS Students in Grades 7 thru 11 will take final exams on June 9th, 10th, and 11th. Exam make-up day will be June 12th. NOON DISMISSAL Students will be dismissed at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. GRADE 6 PROMOTION CEREMONY The Sixth Grade Promotion Ceremony will be held at 10:45 am in the auditorium. Parents and guests, please enter the building by way of the auditorium doors. A luncheon in honor of our Sixth Grade Class will begin at 12:30 pm at Mastoris Diner. This will be the last day of schoo for current Sixth Grade students. HERSHEY PARK TRIP The Parent Activity Committee (PAC) has organized an Upper School trip to Hershey Park. Please contact Deborah Jones for more details. UPPER SCHOOL AWARDS Upper School year-end awards will be presented at 8:20 am in the auditorium. Parents are welcome to attend. CLOSING LITURGY To celebrate the close of the 2007-2008 school year, we will gather for Mass in the auditorium at 10:00 am. Family members are welcome and encouraged to attend. This will be the last day of school for students. VILLA VICTORIA ACADEMY CLASS REUNIONS The Class of 1986 is planning a reunion for October 2008. SUMMER CAMPS 2008 VVA will will run a Drama Camp and an Art Camp for children in Kindergarten thru Grade 6 and a Tennis Camp for children in Kindergarten thru Grade 8. MERCER COUNTY SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR Villa Victoria Academy captured 56 awards at the Mercer County Science and Engineering Fair held at Rider University. Molly O'Mara won a First Place award in the Junior Division. Christina Razzano, Savannah Jones and Colleen VanDriesen won First Place awards in the Senior Division (Grades 9 thru 12). Villa Victoria received a plaque for the most awards in the Junior Division (Grades 6, 7, 8). VVA student, Christina Razzano was the 1st Runner Up Grand Prize Winner of the Mercer County Science and Engineering Fair and has received an all-expense-paid trip to Atlanta, Georgia to the National Science and Engineering Fair! Christina also has been invited to attend the International Sustainable World Project Olympiad in Houston, Texas. NINE AP SCHOLARS ANNOUNCED AT VVA Nine students from the Class of 2007 of Villa Victoria Academy have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program Exams in Math, Science, English, Studio Art:Drawing, Foreign Languages, and United States History. These nine students represent 69 percent of the Class of 2007. Only 18 percent of the more than 1.4 million students who took AP exams in nearly 16,000 secondary schools worldwide performed at a sufficiently high level to merit the recognition of AP Scholar. Two students qualified for AP Scholar with Honor by earning an average grade of at least a 3.25 on all AP Exams taken or 3 or higher on 4 or more exams. Two students received AP Scholar with Distinction by having an average of 3.5 on all AP Exams taken or 3 or higher on 5 or more exams. JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY CENTER FOR TALENTED YOUTH TALENT SEARCH The CTY Talent Search identifies, assesses, and recognizes students with exceptional mathematical and/or verbal reasoning abilities. To qualify for the Talent Search, students must score in the 95th percentile or higher on a reasoning section of a nationally-normed test. Students with state test results categorized at the highest levels of performance are also eligible to participate. Villa Victoria Academy is proud to announce that 15 Lower School students and 14 Seventh and Eighth Grade students have qualified for participation in the CTY Talent Search!
